Proxies

Furniture, lights, barrels, stretchers — placeholders for other P3Ds. Shift+A assigns the reference immediately. You see markers and names in the viewport; the file stores the P-Drive path.

Seven proxies on the LOD: bed, trash, kitchen, light, barrel, picture, stretcher.

Workflow (1.1.x)

  1. Import the proxy .p3d — it lands under Proxies/
  2. Move the reference mesh to the final position
  3. Select LOD + reference → Shift+A → CDM Proxy — the proxy is assigned to the reference immediately, no extra Assign step
  4. Or: add an empty proxy, then proxy + reference → Assign to Selected Model… (Shift+Alt+P)
  5. Select proxy(s) → Copy Proxy to LODs … (multi-select works)

Several references in the same file (barrel + table) run in parallel. Old or broken proxies that point at themselves as the LOD are healed by Assign.

Copy, index, visibility

  • Copy Proxy to LODs … — the original stays on the reference for placement; a real copy becomes a child of the target LOD. The On this LOD list only shows physically copied proxies.
  • Index conflict — same path + same number on one LOD is marked red (export would overwrite). Renumber Proxy Indices fills the gaps.
  • Isolate This LOD's Proxies / Show All — useful with many proxies (fences, shelves).
  • Recent Paths — history button next to the path field, searchable, this session only.

Mesh markers

Create Mesh Markers puts the three transform vertices (origin / forward / up) on the LOD mesh, with named selection proxy: plus P-drive path and index — same as real MLOD. Visual check only; your own export writes this anyway. Select Markers in Edit Mode once they exist.

What export takes

Proxies come along even without an extra child mesh, as long as the proxy hangs on the LOD. They do not appear in the main LOD list — only a note below says how many proxy: meshes sit in the collection.

Foreign proxy meshes (e.g. old triangle proxies): Convert turns them into CDM proxy empties. The other add-on itself is not in the ZIP.
